Description

This course is derived from National Industry Competency Standards for the
Harvesting and Haulage Sector of the Forest Industries Training Package. 
It is designed to increase participants skills in operating and maintaining mobile chippers safely and efficiently in a variety of common work situations.

 

note:   The emphasis of this course can be varied to cover a wide variety of work situations e.g. fire hazard removal operations, amenity operations, silvicultural operations etc.

1.         Introduction

2.         Chipper components.

3.         Chipper maintenance.

4.         Cutting Knives.

5.         Operator safety and responsibilities.

6.         Aids and Equipment

7.         Chipper starting procedures.

8.         Work site preparation.

9.         Work techniques.

11.       State legislation.

12.       Vegetation assessment.

 

Assessment:   Will be by demonstration of skills and answering related questions.
