CIRCULAR SAW MAINTENANCE

 

Enrolment   :     FPI30305              Certificate III in Sawmilling & Processing

 

Units            :     FPICOT 3216A    Assess and Maintain Saw Performance          40hrs

                     :     FPISAW 3208A   Sharpen Circular Saws                                    30hrs

                     :     FPISAW 3210A   File and Set Saws                                           40hrs

                     :     FPISAW 3213A   Level and Tension Circular Saws                   50hrs

 

Duration      :     3 weeks (delivered over 3 months)

 

Group Size  :     Minimum 4 participants

 

Description

Circular Saw Maintenance is designed to give sawyers the skills to carry out basic saw maintenance including tensioning and sharpening.

Trainees will undertake selected training modules from the Saw Doctor apprenticeship in order to complete the program.

Completed modules will count towards Certificate III and IV in Forest and Forest Products .

 

Course Content

1.                  Saw Doctoring Principles.

2.                  Saw Doctoring Calculations.

3.                  Circular Saw Maintenance – 1.

4.                  Circular Saw Maintenance – 2.

5.                  Replace Saws, Blades and Knives.

6.                  Troubleshoot Circular Saws.

7.                  Troubleshoot Mill Line Cutting Problems.

 

Assessment:   Will be by demonstration of skills and answering related questions.

 

Cost:   2011 Funded

            Tuition Fee -                          $294.00  (State Government of Victoria Funded)

            Materials Fee -                       $186.00

            Total Cost                             $480.00          ($2800.00 if ineligible for Funding)
