Description

This course is derived from National Industry Competency Standards for the
Forest Growing and Management  Sector of the Forest Industries Training Package. 
It is designed to increase participants skills in operating and maintaining brushcutters / clearing saws safely and efficiently in a variety of common work situations.

 

note:   The emphasis of this course can be varied to cover a wide variety of work situations e.g. fire hazard removal operations, amenity operations, silvicultural operations etc.

 

Course Content

1.         Introduction

2.         Brushcutter components.

3.         Brushcutter maintenance.

4.         Cutting heads and blades.

5.         Operator safety and responsibilities.

6.         Aids and Equipment

7.         Brushcutter starting procedures.

8.         Work site preparation.

9.         Basic brushcutter cuts,

10.       Work techniques.

11.       State legislation.

12.       Vegetation assessment.

 

Assessment: Will be by demonstration of skills and answering related questions.
